Nasarawa state government has banned all Congregational prayers, ordering shutdown of all neighbourhood across the state, a head of Ramadan fast in order to curtail the spread of corona virus in the state.
Governor Abdullahi sule who made the government’s position known at the end of an expanded meeting attended by security chiefs,some traditional rulers,religious leaders,and top government officials which was held at government house, Lafia also said the aim was to curtail the spread of corona virus into the state.
The Governor who commended the traditional and religious leaders for understanding also said the action which was taken in good faith was not to undermine any person or religious organization.
While appealing to the residents of the state to remain calm and maintain social distancing, and order rules and regulations regarding covid-19, the Governor said he would do everything humanly possible within his powers to ensure the protection of lives of everyone in the state.
He noted that although there was no reported case of covid19 in the state, ” as government we cannot allow the disease to come to the state through neighbouring states.” The ordered the immediate quarantine of people coming into the state from other states in order to curtail the spread of the disease into the state.
