All Progressive Party ( APC) has registered over 400,000 members during the last registration exercise in Nasarawa state.
Nasarawa state secretary of the party, Alhaji Aliyu Bello who made the disclosure in a chat with journalists in his office Friday also expressed optimism that more PDP members in the state would leave their party for APC,as according to him,” APC is a party to beat in the state anytime,anyday”. Alhaji Aliyu Bello further explained that the decamping of PDP and members of other political parties to the ruling APC in the state and the country will not be unconnected with the fact that PDP and other political parties have gone comatose and were left with no other option than to join the ruling party which according to him,is the only party that will take them to the promised Land. On the cost of nomination form which is too high for the poor, Aliyu Bello said,”APC is an independent political party, which is Free of government’s financial assistance,we put the cost of nomination form high because,we want to use the money realized for the purchase of the form to enable us get over 500 personnel for party primaries, printing of result sheets,ballot papers, transportation amongst Others. He said the cost of the nomination form is relatively cheaper compared to the cost the nomination form in other PDP states.pointing out that the party has set up machinery in motion to conduct screening exercise of aspirants into various positions and appeal penal to entertain petitions arising from the screening exercise. He said because of the concern the party has for the women and less previledged in the society, the party has cut down the cost of nomination form by fifty percent to enable them participate in the forthcoming local government election in the state. While commending Governor Abdullahi A. Sule for probity, accountability and due process in the discharge of his duties, also called on the people of the state to keep faith with him,as the Governor is not greedy of accumulating wealth, but to ensure that the people enjoys the dividends of democracy, we should join him with the Governor to enable him succeed on the enormous tasks ahead.”
