President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad1 as the chairman,Nato Honour Award Committee. According tia press statement signed by Alhaji Hudu Aliyu Mailafiya, Secretary, Lafia Emirate Council and copy made available to journalists in Lafia read in parts,:. ” The president and commander -in – chief of the Nigeria Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria., Muhammadu Buhari GCFR has approved the appointment of His Royal Highness,Hon. Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad1 JSC Rtd , Emir of Lafia and Chairman, Nasarawa state Council of chiefs as the chairman of the standing committee on National honours Award for a period of four years (4) years commencing from 9th August,2021″. In a letter conveying the approval of the president to His Royal Highness and signed by the Hon. Minister, Federal Ministry of Special duties, Senator George Akume further informed His Royal Highness that the date for the inauguration of the committee would be communicated to him in due course. According to the statement, the National Honours Award Committee is saddled with the responsibilities of assisting Mr President in discharging of his responsibilities in identifying and conferring on deserving Nigerians and friends of Nigeria with National Honours as provided in the National Honours Act Cap 43 of the law of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 While congratulating the Emir on his well deserved appointment, Senator George Akume also wished him success in the discharge the heavy responsibilities vested in him.
