Electoral Violence Looms In Plateau, As PDP Accuses Its Rival Party, APC Of Perpetrating Frands
By Moses Gbande
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Plateau State Chapter has expressed concern over an alleged scam that took place on the night of 31st January, 2019 at the Polo field in Jos.
The party alleged that it has received credible information that in an event organized by M I Abaga and Ice Prince, both musicians of Plateau origin, which was sponsored by Governor Lalong, saw people being asked to submit their INEC PVC cards before gaining access to the venue.
In a press statement issued by state publicity Secretary of the party, John Akans ssys, “We are reliably informed (with abundant evidence in our possession) that the organizers used an ipad tablet to transmit PVC’s VIN number to an internet platform after filling their victim’s name, phone number, VIN number and email address in a form provided for that purpose.
“We equally understand that the organizers were working on instruction given by Governor Lalong, in collaboration with APC to fraudulently divert the will of the people of Plateau State in the forthcoming coming general elections
“We are also aware that these same organizers (M I and Ice Prince) are going round the State along with APC campaign train with the same scam. It is no longer news that Ice Prince performed at the APC rally at the Nefur Arena, Pankshin on Friday, February 2, 2019.
“We, therefore, call on the security agencies to put to halt this deliberately fraudulent act by APC, which reflects their growing desperation, the reality of their impending loss at the coming general elections in the State, in particular, and the country, in general, staring them in the face. They are embarking on this desperate project, knowing they have been rejected by the electorate as a result of their incompetence, poor performance and self-centered leadership.
“We note that the belligerent, fraudulent and fallacious act of the APC, marked by their desperate and deliberate deceptiveness only lends credence to the intelligence reports at our disposal, pointing to a grand plot they have hatched to create an alibi for the APC and Lalong-led government to declare Plateau State for APC by hook or crook.
“In the same vain, we are aware of a plan by former PDP member who just decamped to APC in the Northern Senatorial Zone to recruit thugs to be stationed at the various polling units with the sole aim of disrupting, intimidating and harassing voters during elections.
“As a responsible political party, we cannot afford to allow to remain silent in the face of desperate moves to subvert the people’s will.
“We condemn in the strongest terms this fraudulent and ambidextrous act by agents of the APC, disguising as musicians to entertain people.
“We call on security agencies to, without any delay, arrest and prosecute M I Abaga and Ice Prince, and the sponsors of this fraudulent act.
We call on them to take proactive steps to avert any further occurrence of such events in any other part of the State..
“Equally, we call on the good people of Plateau State to be vigilant and be ready to resist any attempt of intimidate before, during and after the forthoming elections.
“We call on them to resist the antics of the APC in the State, which are targeted at subverting our rights to freedom as a people. These antics are designed to award undue advantage to the APC, which is growing unpopular by the down”.
