The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State Senator JT Useni has promised to raise the living and working conditions of traditional rulers in the state when elected Governor.

He told the Emir of Kanam Alhaji Mohammed Muazu Mohammed II, in his palace n Dengi that as National Chairman of the Traditional Council under the Abacha administration, he had been instrumental in improving the welfare of traditional rulers across the country, and he wants to do even much more in Plateau. “We cannot afford to have our royal fathers begging for sustenance and living in squalid conditions that are demeaning to their status. Since they look after the people we must also show them respect by looking after them well.”
Senator Useni also called attention to what he described as a culture of untruth in the management of the security in the state. He was unhappy that the truth about the life-consuming insecurity in the state would be hidden from the President when he visited Jos and even spent the night.
“We must stop playing politics with the lives of our people. The very day the state government was desperately trying to hide the truth from the president, that very moment, many people were killed in their different villages. My government will not play with the lives of our people.”
The PDP Flag- bearer also quarried, “Where are the billions of Naira that the federal government promised to help Plateau communities displaced from their homes?”
On his part, the Emir of Kanam Alhaji Mohammed Muazu Mohammed welcomed Senator Useni home. He recalled the special relationship between his father, the late Emir and Senator Useni.
He enumerated the many good works undertaken for Kanam when the Senator was Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
These included direct donation of 600 bags of cement and leading the late Emir to then Vice President Atiku Abubakar who gave a donation of one million Naira for the construction of the Dengi Central Mosque. “You are indeed a general in everything. What can a child say to his father except to tell him, ‘Thank you’?
At the Dengi mini stadium, Senator Useni assured the people of his readiness to ensure an enabling environment for everyone to live and prosper in their chosen businesses.
The assurance given by Kanke stakeholders at the rally was that the PDP had never lost any election in the Local government…and it does not intend to do so.
The joint campaigns of the critical stakeholders – David Paradang for Senate, Honourable Timothy for House of Representatives and Hon Maikudi Gotau shows the  sources of tension in Kanke had largely been eliminated.
The PDP Flag-bearer Senator JT said, “My government will not discriminate against anyone. The young and the elderly will work together. We look forward to a good election.”
He called on the people of Kanke to deny the APC any opportunity to do more damage to the sense of dignity of the people of Plateau State.
