Plateau Police Command States its ReadinessTo Ensure A Hitch Free Polls.

Plateau State Police command has called on the Media, and the Public to support the men and officers of the Polive in policing of the state.

The Newly posted Commissioner of Police to Plateau state, Isaac Olutayo Akinmoyede made this call at a news briefly, after taken over affairs of the Command from the outgone CP Austin Agbonlahor.

“It is also important to use this opponunity to brief you on the state of preparedness of the Command for the forth coming elections.

“The Nigeria Police being the lead agency in matters of internal security has in conjunction with other members of the lnter-Agency Consultative Committee on Security drawn up an operation order that will ensure that the 2.637 polling units and 207 Wards Collation Centres in the state are covered.

“In doing this. personnel of the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in the state are posted by name to specific places with their phone numbers attached for ease of contact during distress or emergencies barring network issues.

” It is also aimed at making the personnel accountable in case of any professional misconduct.

“Members of the public especially the voters are enjoined to conduct themselves at the polling units/centres and not engage in any act that can derail the electoral process.

“The criminals and trouble shooters are also warned to steer clear of the state as any

breach of peace will be decisively dealt with and perpetrators will face the wrath of the law.

“Arrangement has been put in place to ensure the safety of electoral materials, the INEC Officials. NYSC members and other adhoc staff that will take part in the conduct of elections.

“The same applies to the media, accredited observers, and electorates in general. Our special units such as the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit/ (SPU), Explosive Ordinance Disposal. Mounted Troop, Canine Section etc will all be engaged for the elections.

“As for the political parties involved in the elections, the Police in this command in resolved to ensure a level playing field for both their candidates and the parties.

“We shall continue to provide adequate security coverage for their activities. They are in turn expected to guide their supporters and discourage them from embracing violence.

“Finally. I urge every citizen of this state to by their conduct bring peace and credibility to this electoral process”.
