PDP CAMPAIGN COUNIL FINGERS HOW 40 POLITICAL PARTIES SELL AGENTS’ TAGS FOR N4M

The Plateau PDP State Campaign Council has alerted INEC, security agencies and the public that 40 political parties in Plateau have sold their agents’ tags to the ruling party in the state. The deal was worth one hundred thousand Naira per agent’s tag, thus earning the parties a total of four million Naira (N4m).

These facts were laid bare at an emergency meeting of the Plateau PDP State Campaign Council on Monday February 18, 2019, at the PDP Secretariat in Jos.
The meeting was called to receive reports from various committees following the postponement of the national election scheduled for Saturday February 16.

The Council has therefore cautioned that political parties in Plateau that do not have any candidates for presidential and national assembly positions have no business presenting themselves in any polling unit.

These parties that prefer money to decent politicking should note that they have already sold their integrity and therefore cannot be extra agents for another political party contesting with those who have fielded candidates in the national elections.

The Council has also called for the complete verification of all election materials retrieved by the Independent National Electoral Commission following the postponement. It stressed that special attention should also be paid to the reconfiguration of Smartcard readers.

Council also expressed concern that INEC had withdrawn some trained ad hoc staff and substituted them with untrained people. It said this gives room for suspicion regarding the real intent of the commission in the rescheduled election.

During the emergency meeting, the Council declared 24 hours of vigil to be observed by party faithful until the general elections are successfully concluded.

It called on PDP supporters to maintain absolute vigilance in their various areas of responsibility following reports of attempts to transport and include in the ballot fake or already thumb-printed ballot papers to different polling areas in the State. There should be no excuse for another postponement or inconclusive election in Plateau State.

Party Chairman, Hon Damishi Sango, who presided over the meeting commended party officials, candidates and members for their sacrifices in getting the party to where it is as the cherished choice of the people of Plateau for the conduct of their governmental business.

State Gubernatorial Candidate of the PDP, Senator Jeremiah T. Useni called on party members and officials to be patient with one another, work together and bring in results that reflect the true convictions of the people of Plateau State.
