2019 Election: Controversy Trails Plateau North Senatorial And Jos North/Bassa Fed. Consttituency

Strong allegations are currently trailing plateau State over the just concluded National Assembly electtions in the State, as Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC Halilu Husseini Pai and the Plateau CP are accused of hatching Plans to upturn the Plateau North result of the Senatorial seat and Jos /North Bassa elections.
It has been alleged that they are acting on the directives of the state Governor Simon Lalong to favour the Hausa community in Jos North for his re-election bid against the verdict of the electorates.
Investigation reveals that the REC Mallam Husseini Pai based on the directive of the Governor has refused to allow the Collation officer to announce the Candidate of the PDP Hon. Istifanus Gyang as the winner for the Senate Seat and PDP House of reps candidate for Jos North, Bassa Hon. Jonathan Dabo as the winner for the reps seat.
Our Correspondent reports that the delay in the announcement of the results four days after the election was concluded might not be unconnected to a game plan to perfect the deal, a circumstances that is hightening tension in the City of Jos, as supporters vow to resist anything in the contrally.
It was gathered that, youths had on Monday protested to the Jos North collation centre to demand for the announcement of the results on ground that they don’t know why the continous hording of the results, but to no avail.
The REC Commissioner in company of the CP had mobilized to the venue lsst Monday evening and moved the materials to INEC Headquarters in Jos.
Pop I, then, the Commission has been holding series of meetings behind close door with agents of political parties and other stakehoiders on resolving the matter which do ended in dead locked.
Another meeting is rescheduled to hold Wednesday, 27th February,2019 at Jos North local government Secretariat in continuation of the meeting to determined on the faith of the results.
