Tension In Jos, As Youths Protest Against Continual Hording Of National Assemblies Results.

Palpable tension is increasingly rising in Plateau State over non declaration of results of the last Saturday elections for the positions of Plateau North Senatorial zone and that of Jos North Bassa Federal Consttituency.
Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC Halilu Husseini Pai within the four days after the elections were conducted, he has failed to declare public some of the results.
There are allegations that the Plateau Commissioner of Police and the Commission are hatching Plans to upturn the Plateau North result of the Senatorial seat and Jos /North Bassa federal Consttituency in the state
In the Election, Candidate of the PDP for Senate position is Hon. Istifanus D. Gyange while the PDP House of Representatives for Jos North, Bassa federal Consttituency is Hon. Jonathan Dabo both whom are assumed to have emerged victorious in the elections and the state government is working to upturned.
It was gathered that, the elections were conducted peacefully and results were returned to the INEC Collation centre before Sunday, but the umpire was not willing to declare, thereby given rise to the earliest protest of Monday evening by youths to the Jos North collation centre to demand for the announcement of the results.
The REC Commissioner in company of the CP had mobilized to the venue of the scene on Monday evening to solicit for their calm as something was being done on the issues and moved the materials to INEC Headquarters in Jos.
Since then, the Commission has been holding series of meetings behind close door with agents of political parties and other stakehoiders on resolving the matter which nothing serious is done about it
In the last meeting which also ended in dead lock, the REC told Journalists after a close door meeting that another meeting was rescheduled to hold Wednesday, 27th February, 2019 at Jos North local government Secretariat in continuation of the meeting to determined on the faith of the results.
Unfortunately, the at the meeting, the REC, was conspicuously absent in the meeting, propelling one of the Commissioners present said the RRC chairmen was in Abuja for an official assignment, and he was directed to inform them to that the matter is beyond the collation centre the matter referred to INEC Headquaters.
Adding that the commission is taken steps to see if the result of Tudun wada/Kabong that was ealier cancelled could be reconsidered and asked for more time to inable police and Commission scrutinized the results, the remarks which was received Negative perception from stakehoiders.
Speaking, the PDP agent said they are no longer confident that the exercise would be free and fair, arguing that in a circumstances where the INEC Is taking over from the job of Election tribunal before results are declared is unacceptable, more so that at the level of verification, agents would no longer be there, and exercise the exercise, according to him is suspicious.
On his Part, one Barr. Zi said they have lost confidence in the process entirely and the continue delay in the declaration to him, is a confirmation of allegations making round that the government has bribed them heavily, and are collaborating with the police, and have compromise standard.
He warn them against indulging in a game that would set the state ablaze.
In the meantime, the old Bukuru park, heart of the Jos metropolis was taken over by youths this morning carrying placards with iscriptions, ” Release Jos North/Bassa results to us!!!, Let our votes count, inec release our results, we are tired of waiting, give is our mandate, our results!, Our rights!!, Our fruture!!!, Our mandate, INEC.
The youths were curiously wanting at the Junction leading to the Jos North collation Centre, in anticipation that the result would announced as promised them by the REC in the previous meeting, buy were disappointed when the news reached them that the results were not declared.
