Plateau Widow Hood Vocational Training Centre, located in Mangu local government area of Plateau State, North Central Nigeria, on Thursday graduated four (4) sets of widows of about two hundred and seventy eight (278) participants trained in various skills and empowered to with packages to start up their businesses.

Addressing the Public during the presentation of the start up packs Principal of the Training Centre, Mrs. Saratu B. Mandun said out of the graduating Widows, 58 were trained by the Governor Lalong administration, while the remaining 220 were trained by the immediate past administrationistration.

She Commended the state government for the firm demonstration to take the State to the next level.

“Our gratitude also goes to our loving mother, the wife of the Executive Sovemor of Plateau State. Ma, your passion to see that women on the Plateau are empowered is not in doubt as recently you distributed materials to women groups in the State. Ma, you are indeed a mother”.

She however inumerated even me challenges  facing the center to includes Mobility: “At present, the Centre has no Ma, the herculeen task of transporting materials from purchasing points to the centre is in measurable, not to talk of the cost involved”.

” Another worrying issue has been the problems of taking widows that have health challenge to the health centre for prompt intervention when ever any health challenge occur, especially if such an ailment occurs during the night.

“May I therefore appeal to our listening Governor to please assist the centre with either Helux Van or a Bus to help in that regard.

‘Fencing: As you can see ma, the centre is not fenced. In this era of security challenges,
there is an urgent need for the fencing of the school. In fact on one of the two occasion,
men of the underworld have entered the school but were driven away by the helpless widows and if these men were armed only God knows that would have been the result.
It is in the light of this that I am appealing to the authority to as a matter of urgency
fence the centre. The centre if properly fenced will also prevent land encroachment.

” 1 am appealing to the authority to employ at least three (3) watch men to provide adequate
security at the centre.

“There is need to post more staff to the centre and also to formalize the appointment of the three (3) part time teachers as they have served this centre for many years and have been very dedicated to their duties”..
