Jos North LG Distributes 15 Trucks Of Fertilizers To Local FarmersBy Moses GbandeLocal administration of Jos North Local Government Council of Plateau State on Thursday launched the sales of fertilizers to farmers within the Locality for the 2019 cropping season.The Management Committee Chairman of the council, Philip Izam Nyam while performing the ceremony at the council’s secretariat warn against the diversion of the commodities.He said the council in its efforts to encourage farmers has purchased fiftheen trucks of assorted fertilizers and five trucks were already supplied for onward distribution to farmers at a subsidized rates.Accoding to him, the commodities available include; NPK N6,800.00, SSP N5,000.00 and Urea N5,500 per bag respectively.He commended the federal and state governments for subsidizing the commodities to farmers, and encourage farmers to take advantage of the opportunity provived to improve on their crop productions so as to bring food to their tables.He adminishes traditional and religious leaders to preach Peace in their domain so that farmers would have peaceful atmosphere to cultivate their farms.Earlier, Director of Agricultural Services in the local government, Princes Albert Ali commended the efforts of the state and federal governments towards providing fertilizers to farmers to encourage them to go to farm, stressing that the council is poised to ensuring that the fertilizer launch accommodates all fermers in the area and warn them against selling of their allocations.The commodities were later handled over to the chairman All Farmers Association of Nigeria, AFAN, Jos Branch, Mr. Chindap Wuyep for onward distribution to farmers.A committee is said to have been set up to monitor the distribution, as well as ensure that the products does not find its way to the open market.
