A witness in the ongoing Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in Plateau State, Mr. Abok Nyam Azi on Tuesday alleged that the 2019 governorship elections at Angwan Wakiri polling unit in Jos North local Government had recorded high level of irregularities.
The witness who served as an agent of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Angwan Wakiri polling unit with code number 035, told the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting at High court west of Mines Jos, the plateau state capital, that the election was conducted without the use of card reader machine.
He said the accreditation had commenced successfully but along the the line the card reader developed fault.
Adding that after the voting had end and result was read, the figures entered, particularly that of APC was mutilated and and inflated.
On cross examination as to why he went ahead to sign the result sheet, Mr. Abok told the tribunal that they complained but no action was taken by their suprior, thereby compelling them to append their signatures.
Earlier, the tribunal after receiving another sets of certified INEC documents grom the petitiiners counsel ked by the day’s proceeding, Edward Pwajok, the tribunal ptoceeded with the taken several other PDP witnesses including Mr. Ayuba Luka Maigari whi served as Agent at Sunday Bishmang, in Dutse Uku, Joseph Nandak Gambo of Sngwan Kere and Mubarak also known as (AAP ) of Ibrahim Katsina ward, all in Jos North local government areas.
Others are Sani Ado, a PDP agent at Kasuwan Dere Polling unit in Garba Daffo ward as well as Suleiman Farke who served at Garadima polling unit 021.
Our correspondent reports that all their complaints as indicated in their statements of oath before the tribunal hinged on over voting and unaccounted number of irregularities, which during cross examination most of them were not able to defend their claims as contained in their statements of oath.
It became glaring however that some of them might have given false depositions oweing to their inability to substantiate the fact that there were actually over voting during the elections.
Meanwhile, the tribunal was forced to adjourn to Wednesday following the inability of the Petitioners Counsel, Benson Igbanoi (SAN) to call the remaining two witnesses earlier scheduled to take their witness box.
Benson who was holding brief for the lead counsel in the petition, Mike Ozekhome told the tribunal that he received communication that the remaining two witnessed billed to be called had ghastly motor accident on their way to the tribunal and pleaded that the matter be adjourned to Wednesday when they would be available to testify, and the adjournment was not opposed.
