Elder Bar Danjuma Maina, an elder Statesman from Mangu LG, moved a motion for a vote of confidence on the State Chairman, Chief DT Sango, and was seconded by Hon Cyril Dogo from Quan Pan LGC. This was adopted as a resolution to be forwarded to the National Headquarters of the party.

In his remarks, the Leader of the party in the State and Governorship Candidate, Sen JT Useini, called for unity within the party. Several speakers took turn to express their surprise at the ugly events in the party as being championed by some selfish and unpatriotic members of the State Exco and some aspirants that failed to make it during the last primaries. They called for mutual respect for the leadership of the party.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, Hon. Sango briefed the meeting on developments that led to some members of the State Exco, together with some of those that lost the last primaries, petitioned against him, which they all appeared before the Investigating Committee led by Sen. David Mark. However, the same petitioners failed to prove their allegations before the Investigation Committee.

Hon Sango lamented that in his life time of 38 years in politics and having held so many public positions both at State and Federal levels, he had never been accused of any financial mismanagement or irregularities, only for some people in the party in the State to accuse him of diverting campaign funds. He said it is rather unfortunate. No wonder the same group of people confessed before Sen. David Mark Committee that they merely used the issue of finances just to remove him from office, and that they just don’t want to work with him as their State Chairman.

A committee was set up, led by Elder Barr Danjuma Maina to ascertain the number of people and modality of travelling to Bayelsa State to honour the request of the National Campaign Council.
