The Senator representing Plateau North Senatorial District and Deputy Chairman Senate Committee on defence Sen. I.D. Gyang has expressed shock over the horrendous murder of Rapvil Daviya Dapel, a University of Maiduguri undergraduate residing in Kufang, Jos by Boko Haram.
Senator Gyang in a statement signed by his Special Assistance on Media anr Protocol Musa Ashoms, says he is with a heavy heart, and commiserates with the immediate family of promising Rapvil, his colleagues students under the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), National Association of Plateau State Students (NAPSS), the government and people of Plateau State.
“Given the repeated targeting of Plateau sons and daughters for abduction and annihilation by the Boko Haram, for no other reason than their faith and origin, it is obvious that a new narrative aimed at isolating Nigerian citizens of Plateau origin for persecution and extermination is being projected by the terrorists_
Senator Gyang says this defective and hateful narrative is not only misplaced but is simply an attempt by Boko Haram to deflect and shift attention from it’s blood letting acts of crimes against humanity.
No wonder, this evil has elicited wide condemnnation by citizens of all faiths, the Plateau State government and the International community.
Senator Gyang wish to reiterate his earlier call for the unconditional release of all persons being held in captivity by Boko Haram. In the same vein he is urging the Nigerian government and the International community to reinforce military and related security actions in bringing the Boko Haram insurgency to an end.
This will spare the nation the horrors and trauma that Plateau citizens are currently passing through.
God bless Plateau State,
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
