TARABA STATE UNIVERSITY IS ONE OF THE BEST IN THE COUNTRY – Vice Chancellor

Newly admitted students of Taraba State University have been charged to key into the good behavior of the University.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Vincent Ado Tenebe gave the charge while addressing the newly admitted students, during the 11th matriculation ceremony in jalingo.

According to him, “Taraba State University is one of the best in the country, so you should consider yourself lucky to be admitted, I want to use the medium to advise you to face the major reason why you are all here”

“The University is friendly, for both the students and staff are one family”

He advised the students to read the University handbook that will lead them to their destiny, adding that if not adhere to, will lead to punitive measure that will push them out of the University.

“The University would not hesitate to push out students who misbehave”

“I advise you to ensure that you behave as good citizens, for it is a good opportunity to be admitted amongst millions that apply”

He disclosed that out of 158 Universities in the Country, only 6,000 youths are admitted and urged them not to waste the important opportunity they have, but to read hard.

” My prayer is that all of you would graduate with First class Degrees in your field of studies”

He pointed out that signing an oath is very important, describing it as a contract between the students and the University.

“No matter your level, even level three, you must sign the oath, without this, you may not graduate”

According to him, matriculation is once in life of a student, adding that it is purely an Academic affair between the students and the University.

“It is an occasion which we induct our newly admitted students so that they can be bonifide members of the community. I therefore seize this opportunity to congratulate you Ali for the golden opportunity God has given you to pursue and shape your destinies. I charge you to make good use of it, because an opportunity once lost, would be difficult to regain”.

He disclosed that the University has been able to provide facilities and amenities to make the students to stay and study conveniently.

” I urged you to make good use of those facilities. I urged all members of our community to work hard to enable us meet the expectation of the University”

” You (the newly admitted students) are expected to key into the mission on individual basis so that you can contribute your quota to the attaintment of the mission and objective of the University as envisioned by her founding fathers, and what is the mission?, it is to train and groom men and women like you to aquire appropriate skills, abilities and physical for the well being of the society in general”

He further mentioned some impediments that may scuttle their purpose of been in the University to include, Drug Abuse, Cultism, Truancy, Thuggery, holiganism, exam malpractice amongst other, urging them to watch against involment in any of these anti social acts.

A total of 4,478 students matriculated with Faculty of social and management science having the larger number of students 1,844 closely followed by Faculty of Arts with 189 students. Others are Faculty of Education 725, Engineering 234, Health Science 290, Law 103, Science 748, Institute of Distance Learning 226 and Agriculture has 119 students.
