I ENVISION SOME OF YOU TO BE DIRECTOR’S, PERMANENT SECRETARIES, EVEN HEAD OF SERVICE IN FEATURE – Ishaku

The Newly recruited civil servants in Taraba state have been urged to justify the huge expenses government has invested in organizing an induction course for them.

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku stated this at the opening of an induction course for the participants held at the Jolly Nyame Stadium, Jalingo.

The Governor represented by the Head of Civil Service, Suzy Jemima Nathan said:

“This Workshop is designed to prepare you to fit into whatever work schedule that you will be assigned, based on the needs and peculiarities of the state.”

” You must count yourselves fortunate for the rare previlege of participanting in the Workshop where you will be exposed to the basic principles of the service. Many who joined the service in the past never enjoyed this unique opportunity”.

He encourage them to be attentive, adding that the knowledge acquired will assist them to build a career progression of their dream in the service.

“Accordingly, you are expected at the end of the workshop to strive to reach the peak of your choosing profession. This can only be achieved with dedication, discipline and loyalty to the constituted authorities”.

” I envision some of you to be Directors, Permanent Sectaries and even Head of Civil Service with hard work in feature”.

He described the civil service as a catalyst for propelling the activities of government in realization of it’s objectives, policies and programs such as Economic, Social or Political.

He pointed out that in order for the administration to effectively and efficiently achieve it’s Rescue agenda, the civil service must become more dynamic to meet the exigencies of the present time.

” My administration has prioritize the payment of salaries and other welfare packages to boost moral and productivity of civil servants in the state and will continue in this direction with your support and cooperation. What is expected of the worker is to reciprocate government’s efforts by being dedicated to work with positive attitudinal change”

” I also urged you to justify the huge expenses government has invested in organizing this program, by putting into practice what you have acquired to grow in the service”

He commended the office of the Head of Civil Service and Civil Service Commission for organizing the workshop that will provide the new workers with sound foundation to understand their functions and responsibilities to the government and the society.

“You must respond to this gesture by being prompt to work, avoid redundancy, laziness and truancy as well as imbibe positive spirit to work ethics, if you must attain the ultimate goal in Service, as there is reward in hard work”.

Earlier, the Head of Civil Service Suzy Jemima Nathan said that civil servants would be conversant with the operations of civil service rules, regulations and convention which are contained in the operational munuals, such as Public Service Rules, Financial and Stores Regulations, Labor laws, Scheme of Service, Official Gazette and Establishment circulars amongst Others.

” It is for this reason that this induction and five days training workshop is set to impact on these newly employed civil servants”.

“It is my conviction that in order to create the civil service of our dream, their is the need for a total re – orientation of all cadres of our work force through training and retraining like this”.

She thanked Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku for employing more people into the state civil service and approval to organize the workshop.

“It is my singular hope that at the end of the workshop, participants should be able to add value to the civil service of this state by demonstrating resourcefulness and good judgement, imagination, competence and proper understanding of the rules and regulations of the service” – she added.
