Nasarawa state government has confirmed knowledge of five suspected cases of Corona virus in the state.
The state Commissioner, Ministry of Health, Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yahaya, disclosed this on Friday, during a Media briefing in Lafia.
According to him the suspected victims, a family of five came to the state from Lagos through Ogun state and arrived their destination in Keffi, headquarter of Keffi Local Government Council on Thursday this week.
The Commissioner explained that the family members on their arrival showed some symptoms that are similar to that of the deadly disease, adding that the suspected victims have since been quarantined at the Federal Medical Center, Keffi.
Pharmacist Yahaya who pointed out that Specimens of the suspected victims have been taken for medical test, said the result is currently been awaited.
While calling on the people of the state not to panic over the out break of the disease in the World, the Commissioner said the suspected victims will remain at the isolation center pending the release of the test.
He assured that his ministry will continue to partner with all necessary stakeholders in the state to enlighten the public on the need to embrace hand hygiene as well as the need to avoid crowded areas.
