PLAPOLY Elects Dr. Nanzing Nden As Alumini President

Plateau State Polytechnic Barkin Ladi, now has elected officials to run the affairs of the Alumini Association.

The election which was conducted on Saturday under tense atmosphere at the Jos Campus of the Plateau state Polytechnic saw Dr. Nanzing Nden emerging as its President.

Nasarawa Reporters gathered that the Plateau polytechnic has been existing for over four decades, since its establishment without an elected officials to run the Alumini Association, rather it was been ran by caretaker committees.

However, the pioneer Election came as a result of unanimous agreement amongs the Ex students of the institution who are spread within and outside the country.

The Election which witness the large turn out of members that came out en mass to cast their votes for the candidates of their choice witnessed,skirmishes during and after the casting of votes as well as during the collation of results.

Supporters were seen engaging each other in a free for all fight, but the maturity of the security agencies in handling the situation saved the election from turning bloody.

Kudos must be given to the men of the Nigeria Police Force,Department of security service,Neighborhood watch and the Security of the Polytechnic who arrest the situation.

The Our correspondent observed that the lection was rowdy due to the inability of some voters to participate in the election. It was expected over for thousands voters were to participate in the election, but at the end, 944 were accredidated casted their votes.

Announcing the results, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Evangelist David Golengs. Said that the Position of the President was contested by four candidates, and Dr. Nanzing Nden scored 330 votes to beat his closes rival,Mr. Peter Patrick who scored 250 votes,followed by Mr. Moses Koproda 191 while Buba Yakal polled 162 votes. The position of the Vice President was clinched by Mrs. Datong Patricia, Secretary General, Mr. Mangai Isahaya,Assistant secretary,Dakkas Obed,Treasurer,Tabitha Machief,Financial Secretary, Pius Tongman Didaar,the Position of Public Relations officer went to Ibibra Francis. At the end of the announcement, Security agents fired teargass on air to dismiss the crowd that gathered outside and threatened the members of the Electoral committee as well as journalists.
