COVID – 19 : THIS IS A WAR TO FIGHT – Jedua

The Chairman, House Committee on Health in the Taraba state House of Assembly, Dr. Said Jedua says Corona virus (COVID – 19), is as a war which should be fought to finished.

The Chairman, House Committee on Health in the Taraba state House of Assembly, Dr. Said Jedua stated this at the stakeholders preparedness meeting on outbreak of the Corona virus pandemic.

” This is a war to fight, the fight against COVID – 19 is a war”

He commended Health Workers who have sacrifice themselves in fighting the Virus, adding that it is a global pandemic.

“If care is not taking, there will be much casualties. It is now time for government to look into entillments of health workers so as to ginger them to respond to any eventuallity such as this one, they should not wait until when their services are needed or arises”

“I want to tell you that COVID – 19 is real, it is like a wild fire and doesn’t choose or select anyone, it can happen anytime, anywhere” – he said.

According to him, people are at risk of contacting the virus and that it is very dangerous which need to be taken with seriousness.

” High profile people are affected and it can happened to anybody”

He urged members of the committee to ensure that they apply all avenues towards ensuring that the state is free from the Virus.

Earlier, Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku, represented by the Commissioner, Ministry of Health Dr. Innocent Vakkai said the Ministry is battle ready for the fight against the COVID – 19, adding that the state government have purchased equipments such as Sanitizers, Masks amongst Others to be distributed to the Sixteen local government areas.

He said the committee would soon embark on sensitization to all the local government areas on the dangers of the virus. Also speaking, the permanent secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Ebenezer Koku said the Ministry would do all possible withing its powers to ensure that the assignment is successful.
