COVID 19: NO CORONAVIRUS IN TARABA STATE, TWO SUSPECTS TESTED NEGATIVE – Commissioner

Taraba State Commissioner for Health and the State Chairman of the Technical Committee on COVID-19, Dr Innocent Vakkai has cleared the air said the two suspected cases of COVID-19 in the state tested negative.

The Commissioner stated this while briefing newsmen in jalingo on the successes recorded by the state government in the fight against the pandemic, saying the state has not record any case of the Corona Virus.

He said the samples of the two suspected cases which were sent to the NCDC for COVID-19 test returned negative.

“We have no positive case of CoronaVirus in the state and we hope to maintain this status.”

“The state government has distributed hand sanitizers and other personal protective equipments to medical facilities in the state”

He call on well meaning citizens of the state to make voluntary donations to complement government’s effort in the fight against the pandemic.

“I urged residents of the state to maintain social distancing and observe proper hygiene by washing their hands regularly with soap and running water”
He said, among all the cabinet members of Governor Ishaku no one has traveled abroad January this year, therefore there is no body is being suspected of been contracted with the Corona Virus.

“Base on the information in our disposal, Taraba state has no any Covid-19 case and we hope the state will remain free from the virus and the state government will continue to providing necessary facilities in preventing the spread of the pandemic” Vakkai added.

According to him, the state government has provided hand sanitizers among other things and handed over to various organizations including the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and that of Muslim Council to distribute to the people across the state.

Dr. Innocent Vakkai also commended the people of the state for their loyalty to the government’s directives on preventive measures it took and urged them to continue observing social distancing, hand washing as well as social gathering among others.

However, a source from the Taraba state Bureau for local government and Chieftaincy Affairs revealed to our Correspondent that preventive kits will soon be distributed to all the sixteen LGAs as soon as they are available.
