Keana local government Area of Nasarawa state over the weekend recorded some level apprehension following the killing of a fulani man by unknown gunmen along border towns of Nasarawa and Benue states on Saturday night.
Confirming the incident to Our reporter, chairman Keana local government Area of, Nasarawa state, Hon.Adamu Adi said:”I received a phone call at about 11:55p on Saturday night informing me of the killing of a fulani man by an unknown gunmen, I then placed a call to my counterpart in Guma local government of Benue state, but could not get him,and I sent a text message to him and upto this time am talking to you, he didn’t reply me,” Adi further explained that the security agents in the area including soldiers, police and civil defense went to the area and reported that the incident happened in a town in Benue state. He therefore called on the people of Keana local government to remain calm,as government would do everything possible to ensure that normalcy returned to the area.
Meanwhile some Tiv men and women were seen trooping to Keana town with their babies, mattresses and other belongings looking for safety. One of them who spoke through an intepatrolling said they left their areas of abode for fear of attacks.
Nigeran Army from 177 battalion keffi and their counterparts from Benue state were seen patrolling Keana and other border towns in order to avert the breakdown of law and other in the area.
