A group of concerned Nigerians of northern extraction has defied the hurdles usually posed by religious and political leanings to organize a routine interfaith intercessory prayers.

The group known as “Arewar mu, Duniyar mu” under its national chairman, a Kaduna based businessman cum politician, Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna has taken the initiatives to hold these prayers in both churches and mosques.

Arising from its meeting in Kaduna recently, Alhaji Haruna told news men that “the aim of this forum is to unite our people from all the 19 states of the north, both Muslims and Christians, to cry to God concerning the nagging insecurity issues, especially in northern Nigeria”.

” Our region has for too long, been bedeviled by all kinds of insecurity ranging from massive killings, Boko Haram insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, herders/farmers crises and so on. We can not sit and watch while the entire region goes up in flames “, he said, adding that ” government can’t do it alone. The citizens must assist in whichever way they can. Ours therefore is to seek divine intervention .”
Asked how Christians and Muslims could come together to pray, Alhaji Haruna said “while the Muslim members of the forum will pray in the mosques on Fridays, our Christian brothers will do same in the churches on Sundays”.
The membership of ” Arewar mu, Duniyar mu ” cuts across the 19 States of the north. Going forward, Muslims will hold their prayers in a designated mosque in the state capital while Christians will do same in a designated church.
