I support the independence of legislature-Gov. Sule.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state has said that his Administration is fully in support of independence of legislature in the country.

The Governor who made the disclosure during the summit of Arms of Government organised by the state government to Mark 60th years of Nigeria independence and 24th year of the création of Nasarawa state also said by so doing, it would enhance the separation of powers among the three Arms of Government in the state.

He said the action of legislature in suspending a government officials would not augur well for the state, hence the need for the three Arms of Government should operate in line with the principle of separation of powers.

The governor further explained that the recent action of the state Assembly in suspending a government appointee was uncalled for as according to him,”such action can bring tension in the state”, On the achievements so far recorded by his Administration in the past 16 months the governor said he was abled to tackle some of the security challenges in the state,as according to him,”Security is the bedrock of development of the state, when came on board,we first of all visited our neighbouring Benue state in order to know the way forward on how best to tackle our security challenges, and Benue state counterpart also visited us here where we had a fruitful discussion that paid up and that’s why we are enjoying relative peace today in our state.” Governor Sule therefore called on the people of the state to join hands with him to enable him succeed on the tasks ahead of him.

Also Speaking, the Emir of Lafia, Justice Didi Bage Muhammad1 called for better collaboration between the government on the other hand, security agents and the traditional institution with the view to tackling insurgency in the country,

The royal father who was happy with the way president Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Abdullahi Sule are tackling headlong the issues of insecurity in the country also urged them to maintain the tempo in the best interest of the state and the country. He also appealed to the authority concerned to ensure the inclusion of the roles of traditional rulers in the Nigerian construction so that the institution can have a sense of belongings.

The retired supreme Court judge, also blamed some judges in the state for delivery judgement based on sentiment, and urged them to always put the interest of the state and the country at heart.

On his part, former Attorney general and commissioner for justice in state, Yusuf Shehu ESq while commending the robust working relationship between the state Assembly and the executive also urged them to maintain the tempo for peace, progress and the overall development of the state, Shehu further called for better collaborating efforts between the three Arms of Government in the state particularly now that the country is experiencing a lot of difficulties economically. Also Speaking, state Attorney general and commissioner for justice,Abdulkareem Abubakar kana expressed concern over the attitudes of some judges in the state who are found of delivering judgements against the government without recourse to the resources of the state and urged them to desist from that in the best interest of peace, progress and the overall development of the state.
