The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, has paraded one Kabiru Mamud for defrauding members of the public of gaining them employment at the Bureau for local government and Chieftancy Affairs in Taraba State.
The suspect was paraded by the Assistant Commandant, NSCDC, Taraba Command, Saliu Muri at the Command’s Headquarters in Jalingo.
Muri said, the suspect is a staff of lau local government as an account officer who was going around defrauding unsuspected people on vacancy at the Bureau for local government and chieftaincy Affairs, collecting thirty thousand naira to gain employment for them.
While fielding questions from newsmen, the suspect, Kabiru Mamud, admitted committing the offence, saying that he had collected N2,95000 which had been paid through his account and pleaded for forgiveness from his victims.
One of the victims name withheld, told journalists that the suspect met him and asked him if he has a candidate seeking for employment that the bureau is giving employment anyone interested at the sum of N30,000 into a zenith Bank account, adding that so far, he had defrauded ten people.
Reacting on the matter, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau for local government and chieftancy Affairs, Bello Yero warned that anyone paying money to gain employment with the Bureau is at his own risk.
Yero, who spoke through the Public Relations Officer of the Bureau, Ossey Sunday, noted that the Bureau is not saddle with the responsibility of employment.
He advised members of the public to report anyone involved in defrauding the people in the name of employment to the security agencies.
