Thanksgiving has been described as an act of appreciating God for what he has been doing in human lives.
The Guest Speaker and State Pastor, Living Faith Church, Jalingo, Pastor Istifanus Enoch stated this during the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, Taraba State Chapter New Year Combine service held at CAN Sectariate, Jalingo.
“Thanksgiving is the way forward and we are bound to give thanks to God.
“Thanksgiving is a command and not a choice so you don’t debate with the commands of God.
He said that every command of God is aimed at helping human being and for their favor.
“Let everything that have breath praise God.
The Guest Speaker who spoke on the tittle: WHY ARE WE GIVING GOD THANKS? said thanksgiving is a spiritual command that no condition can hinder it.
“Thanksgiving is showing God’s work in your life, everyone that is still living has hope.
He quoted scriptures, Psalms 28:9, 139:1-4,138:1-3 just to mention but few.
He urged people to always give thanks to God in every condition they found themselves.
“Some of us if we found ourselves in a situation, we don’t thank God, we must learn to give thanks to God at all times.
Pastor Istifanus Enoch gave reasons for thanking God to include: Preserving the blessings that God has given us, adding that when God blesses people and they don’t thank him, it attract a cause or retrieving the blessings.
He call on people to learn how to thank God for their blessings not to be retrieve.
“If you cannot thank God for his finger, you cannot see his hands, if God gives you small, thank him.
According to him, other reasons are, To perfect our blessings and to enable us move forward.
Earlier, the State Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, Rev. Isiah Magaji Jirapiye, said the year 2020 was full of challenges ranging from COVID 19 pandemic, the Economy amongst others, but that God some people where able to survive.
He wellcome all to the year 2020 which according to him, is a year of success and supernatural forward.
The first Bible reading Malachi 2:1-2 was taking by the Commissiner of Tertiary Institutions, Hon. Edward Gidion Baraya and the Second reading Phillipians 4:4-7 by CAN Chairman, North – East, Rev. Innocent Solomon while the Third reading of Psalms 107:1-5 by Engr. Gabriel Sambo
The event featured ministration of Songs by various Choir and Women groups.
