ASUP Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic calls for the sack of governing council.

The Academic staff Union of polytechnic (ASUP) Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic, Lafia chapter in Nasarawa state has called on the state government to as a matter of urgency dissolve the governing council of the institution. Chairman of the Union, Comrade Sylvester Aku who made the call at a press conference after an emergency executive meeting in Lafia also said, the call has become imperative in order to save the polytechnic from further damage following the inability of the governing council to be proactive towards addressing challenges facing the institution. He alleged that the governing council of the institution was unable to implement fully the recommendations of the white paper which indicted former management of the polytechnic for alleged embezzlement of funds including tertiary Education Trust Funds amounting to over two billion The ASUP chairman called on Governor Abdullahi Sule to intervene towards ensuring that most of their colleagues who were stranded in various institutions of learning in different countries abroad due to failure of the governing council to recover the misapppropriated funds continue with their programmes.
