Breaking: Five Killed, Many Injured, Others Missing, In Fresh Herdsmen Attacks On Border Communities Of Nasarawa/Benue

By Moses Gbande.Tension is currently high in Nasarawa State over a renewed attack spreading on border communities of Nasarawa and Benue States.Information available to us indicates that the attacks which is allegedly being perpetuated by Fulani Marauders, is targeted at the Tiv communities.The attack, according to source, has been ongoing for the past three days leaving scores of women and children dead in the pool of their blood, while many displaced.Communty leaders within the affected areas, David Koko, and Francis Gbande who confirmed the attacks said the ongoing attack by the suspected Fulani Marauders affected Avewua, Ajimaka, Ayere, Gborigyo resettlement areas has is spreading rapidly like wild fire.According to Mr Koko, the attackers came around 2am, and opened fire on Chiatyo community, in Ajimaka where they scampered into the bush, and as a result, five dead bodies have been recovered, others still missing and several other sustaining various degrees of injuries.When asked who the attackers could be, Mr Francis failed to exonorate the Fulani herdsmen, saying “the attacks were carried out by the Fulani people, they even attack Avewua area, in Okpatta District yesterday, and matched some people and those who carried out the attack were arrested and taken to the military camp at Rukubi.It has been gathered that, killing has continued to spread, Gborigyo and Ayere and other villages and lost lives are still recording .The cause of the attack is not yet known, but preliminary information reveals that, the Fulani Marauders might be be on a vengeance mission on Tiv People Resident in Nasarawa, to ventilate their anger over the Governor Samuel Ortom’s Anti open grazing law being enforcement in Benue State.Efforts to speak to speak to the authorities concern, proves abortive, but an unchallenged source, said the Nasarawa state government has adequately been briefed about the ongoing killings and is taking interim measures to first stop the ongoing attacks before going into lasting measures.
