The Chief Medical Director, Dalhatu Araf Specialist hospital Lafia, Dr Ikrammah Hassan has said that the management hospital would henceforth deal decisively with any staff found guilty of diverting patients from the hospital to private clinics. Ikrammah who stated this during an interactive session with journalists as part of activities marking Governor Abdullahi Sule’s two years in office also expressed bitterness over abuses of right given to some senior Medical practitioners to operate private hospitals during their off hours. He warned that the right is not for all medical personnel, noting that,any officer found culpable will be dealt with according to the law. Dr Ikrammah Hassan however, indicated that the state’s specialist hospital is well equipped in terms of insfrastructure and medical equipment to provide standard medical services to patients. ” The Administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule came up with the idea on transformed hospital to provide standard medical services to the teeming population of the people of the state. ” We swung into action to meet the standard projected by the Governor, Today Dalhatu Araf Specialist hospital ( DASH) is transformed from 10 to about 50 offices,increased number of clinics from 5_- 10. ” With clinics and wards having their own offices, we have four major departments in medicine which includes medicine, surgery, pediatric obstetrics and Gynaecology and we have sub- specialists attached to these ones, some are supposed to have four clinics, but we have eight. Currently, we have four functional CT scan machines,a digital x-ray machine, mobile x-ray, dental chair and dental x-ray, Four ventilators,an ICT unit with state of Art equipment to serve other sectors, latest model of echo machine and mammography center for breast center. ” The government has provided four mobile clinics to enable medical outreaches for people in the villages to access medical care delivery”. he said.
