FG Takes Over The Construction Of Farin Ruwa Multi-purpose Dam In Nasarawa.

The Federal government has taken over the construction of Farin Ruwa hydropower multi-purpose dam in wamba local government Area of Nasarawa state.

Minister of water Resources Malam Suleiman Hussaini Adamu stated this at the flag- off ceremony at the project site in Kwara Wamba Local government Area on Saturday,.

He said the project which is earmarked for completion in the period of 24 months, was originally initated by the Nasarawa state government in 2004 to generate 2000 hydropower electricity to boost socioeconomic development of the state.He explained that the implementation of the project suffered setback due to lack of funds.The Minister further stated that the state government solicited the intervention and take over by the federal government in order to actualisé the project. He said they received the state government’s request and the federal ministry of water Resources wrote president Muhammadu Buhari where he graciously approved the taking over and completion of the project in October 19,2018. He said the president had also approved the expansion of the project to include regional water scheme and the construction of irrigation insfrastructures of 2000 hectares for dry season farming to serve the people of the area.The Minister commended the state government for initiating the project and the provision of necessary logistics for smooth taking over of the project.he lauded Governor Abdullahi Sule for constructing access road to the the project which was supposed to be part of the items to be constructed by the federal government. He assured the people of the state that the federal government would ensure that the project is completed within the stipulated period and according to specifications. The Minister emphasised that the Buhari-led Administration would remain committed towards the provision of the needed insfrastructures that would guarantee socioeconomic development of the country.Speaking earlier, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state commended president Muhammadu Buhari and the minister of water Resources, Malam Suleiman Hussaini Adamu and the federal government for taking over the project.The Governor further stated that president Muhammadu Buhari has continued to play a fatherly role by approving anything that would lead to peace, progress and development of Nasarawa state since he assumed office as president.He commended the first executive Governor of the state, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu for initiating the project and also thanked successive Administrations in the state for their efforts towards ensuring that the project is completed.Governor Sule explained that he decided to construct the 15.5 kilometers access road to ensure smooth taking over of the project even though it was part of what the federal government would do in the area.The Governor said the dam have the capacity to produce 50 megawatts electricity that would serve the entire state and the federal capital territory and beyond. He therefore, promised that the people of the area would support and cooperate with the contractor to ensure timely completion of the project..
