Nasarawa scholarship : Governor Abdullahi Sule directs board to give priority to science based courses,

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state has given a directive to the state scholar’s board to give priority to students who applies for science based courses in awarding scholarship to the indigenous students from the state. Executive Secretary, Nasarawa state scholarship board,Hon Danlami o.okpobose who disclosed this in a chat with journalists in his office also said the board has changed the narrative of giving priority to everyone on political ground, but today things have changed for the better,as according to him”We have changed the narrative of giving scholarship,we involves trade rulers, and other critical stakeholders in the state to ensure that only indigenous students enjoys scholarship in the state.” He said when he assumed duty as the executive secretary of the board, some non- indigenes have been enjoying the state scholarship most especially from Benue and kogi states, claiming that they are either from keana, Doma or Toto local government Areas, but after sometime he discovered that they are not from Nasarawa state and their names were removed, the same people have genuine indigenes certificates from these local government Areas. On the just concluded screening exercise conducted by the board, Okpobose said, the board gives priority to those Degree and HND holders with cumulative point Aggregate ( CPA)2.5 and above, while students who are studying Nigeria Certificate in Education ( NCE) and National Diploma holders with CPA 2.00 and above are eligible to apply. He commended Governor Sule for his efforts in ensuring that students of state indigenes enjoys scholarship from the government. The Executive Secretary state scholarship board further called on the people of the state, parents as well as the general public to continue to support the Administration of Governor. Abdullahi Sule to enable him succeed on the enormous tasks ahead.
