The Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Prince Mathew Kolawale has said that the North Central zone of Nigeria wants the position of the president of the country and not the national championship of the party ( APC).
The speaker who disclosed this when he and some members of the Kogi state house of Assembly visited his counterparts from Nasarawa state to solicit for their support of the presidential ambition of governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state to become president of Nigeria come 2023.
Prince Kolawale further explained that their decision to market Governor Yahaya Bello to become the president of Nigeria come 2023 was informed by his performances as Governor of Kogi in the areas of security, youths and women empowerment as well as his good working relationship with the state house of Assembly.
He said the governor was able to tackle security problems in the state where hardened criminals in the state who were hitherto terrorising the state were arrested and faced the full wrath of the law.
On the youths and women empowerment, he said, youths in Kogi state were fully empowered by the Yahaya Bello-led Administration, While women were elected as Vice chairmen of all the local government Areas of the state during the last local government election in the state.pointing out that five women were elected in each local governments in the state as Councillors. Prince Kolawale further stated that there are religious tolerance in the state where both mosque and church were built in government house lokoja to enable the people practice their religion effectively
He said when Governor Yahaya Bello is elected as President of Nigeria that most of the federal presence the people of North Central are lacking would be addressed., adding that,” Since the advent of democracy in Nigeria in 1999 to date, there was not any president from the North Central extraction up todate.we need to address this issue by electing Governor Yahaya Bello as president of Nigeria.” He added that Kogi state house of Assembly in the last two years during his stewardship as speaker has passed 55 executive and Private member bills into law.which include state house of Assembly financial autonomy law which would soon be signed by the Governor as well as a resolution by the house to elect him as the president of the country. Responding, speaker Nasarawa state house of Assembly,Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi assured his Kogi counterpart of their unalloyed support to the presidential ambition of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state, Speaker Balarabe commended Governor Yahaya Bello for his efforts in tackling security in the state” we have been following closely the activities of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state most especially in the area of security, the best way to get development is to deal with insecurity issue, and Governor Yahaya Bello is doing exactly in Kogi state,”” he added.
