LG Elections: Court Restrains APC, PLASIEC From Filling Candidate For Bokkos Chairmanship

The All Progressives Congress, APC in Bokkos Local Government of Plateau state is facing serious challenge that may scuttle her interest in participating in the fort comingng local government elections slated to hold in October, 2021.

Already, a Jos high court Judge, Hon Justice Kunda has granted an experti motion to a petition brought before it by Hon. Peter Best Mallo, alleging irregularities in the conduct of local government primaries held in the state on the 23rd June 2021.

Hon. Peter Best Mallo, through his counsel Barr. Muni Ballo had filed a motion on notice under order 42 and 43 of state high court plateau state, (civil procedures) rule 2020 seeking the order of of the honourable court to restrain the APC, it’s candidate and the state electoral umpire, PLASIEC from assigning any body or otherwise presenting any person as the nominated candidate of the party for the forthcoming elections.

According to the Plaintiff’s Counsel, “we filled AN ORDER OF INTERLOCUTORY INJUNCTION restraing the first Defendant whether by itself, its agents, privies or assigns any other Person acting through it, or howsoever from recognizing or further from the recognizing the 2nd Defendant as the nominated candidate from the primary election purported held on the 23rd June 2021 or submitting the 2nd Defendant’s name to the 3rd Defendant as Chairmanship nominated candidate of All Progressives Congress for the position of Bokkos LGA of plateau State Local Government councl election pending the Plaintiff/Applicant’s substantial suit”.

He said this action becomes necessary because, his client was agrieved because primary elections were not conducted for the chairmanship position for Bokkos local government.

Rulling on the motion, Monday, the preciding Judge, Hon. Justice Kunda granted the prayers and ordered all the parties involved in the matter to maintain status quo pending the determination of the suit.
