Elected LG Chairmen/ Councillors To Spend Three Years, Nasarawa Assembly

The chairman, Nasarawa state house of Assembly committee on local government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister Ibrahim Muhammad Alkali has said that the elected local government chairman in the state would spend three years in office.

Alkali who stated this when his committee met with Directors of personnel Management ( DPMs) of local government Areas,

Commissioner for local government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Yusuf Aliyu Turaki, chairman local government service Commission (LGSC) Barrister Sani Bawa to discuss the way forward for local government Areas of the state also called on the DPMs not to collect loans from banks or engage in projects without recourse to the financial position of their local government Areas.

He also warned them against engaging on employment of new staff without recourse to the position of local government service Commission.

The lawmaker who represents Lafia North at the State house of Assembly commended the local government DPMs for regular payment of salaries pending when election would be conducted at the local government levels come October 6th, 2021, and urged them to maintain the tempo. Speaking seperately, state Commissioner for local government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Yusuf Aliyu Turaki and the chairman local government service Commission, Barrister Sani Bawa commended the state Assembly for their support to the ministry and the Commission and pledged to support them to succeed on the tasks ahead.
