The permanent secretary Nasarawa state Ministry of education, science and Technology, Alhaji Sani Bala has said that no secondary school teacher in Nasarawa state buys chalks and other instructional materials to teach in schools in the state. Bala who disclosed this in his office while answering questions from selected journalists in his office also said the state government under the leadership of Engineer Abdullahi Sule is doing all it could to ensure that the state educational sector especially in the areas of the provision of insfrastructure receives a booast. He said the welfare of secondary school teachers have been the top priority of the present Administration under Governor Abdullahi Sule, hence the recent promotions of secondary school teachers who were been in one salary level for the past eleven years, but our listening Governor ensured that such Teachers were promoted to their appropriate grade level. He also called on the teachers to reciprocate the good gesture of the governor by making sure that they live above board. The permanent secretary who expressed his disappointment with some teachers who comes to work at will and leave anytime they feel like to leave, to change their attitudes for the better as according to him,” government will no longer condone such attitudes any longer and any teacher who is caught doing such a thing should have himself or herself to blame.” Alhaji Sani Bala further pointed out the attitudes of some secondary school teachers who comes to work between 9 am- 10am to desist from doing so or else,they will have themselves to blame. ” I always visits schools between 8am- 9am to check attendance register,any teacher that could not be found in his or place of work between that time,I take their names and ask the principal to ask them to report to the ministry to give reasons why they were not in their schools during my visit, and if they could not give any concrete reason,I gives them querry,as government will not fold its to see some teachers sabotaging our good efforts.”. He therefore called on principals and teachers to be up and doing in order to justify the investment and efforts of our amiable Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule most especially in the area of education. The permanent secretary also called on the parents through the parents Teachers Association ( PTA) to join hands with the government in order to enable the success of education in the state.
