The people of Agwatashi in Obi local government Area of Nasarawa state have called on the state government and public spirited individuals to come to their aid following a heavy down pour that destroyed a bridge connecting the area with other villages. The incident which occurred on Tuesday has brought farming and other commercial activities in the area for a standstill. People were forced to stay at home due to lack of bridge to Link them with with other communities for farming and other commercial activities. Spokesman of the Community, Ibrahim Adamu called on the state government and the public spirited individuals to to come to their aid by reconstructing the bridge to enable them move their farm produce the the Market.” The effect of the recent down Pour un the area has caused a major set back, particularly to Farmers who passed through that bridge on daily basis, “the bridge which we have been managing has connected us with other communities in the local government, has now been cut- off,” he said. He therefore called on the government and the public spirited individuals to assist them for the normal return of farming and commercial activities in the area. Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Abdullahi Aliyu Agwai said the ministry had not received any official report from the affected community ” we will act accordingly as soon as we gets the complaint from the community.”
