Stakeholders in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State have expressed fears over the possible outbreak of hostilities during the local government elections scheduled to hold on the 9th of October 2021.
They are alleging that some individuals who are not based in Jos are orchestrating to carry out acts capable of truncating the peace and harmony being enjoyed in the state.
Addressing a press conference under the aegis of the Association of Ethnic Nationalities in Jos and communities in Jos North LGA, Plateau State, the spokesperson of the group, Agwom Atang called on all citizens to remain calm and weil focused ahead of the historic 9” October 2021.
Accirding to him the communities are fully committed to peace in Jos North Local Government Area and and have resolved never to leave any stone unturned to achleve this.
“We stand united to this resolve and we shall ensure peace in our cardinal mission In Jos North. We Advice anyone who is thinking of doing any act that will truncate the peace and harmony in Jos and the state at large to think twice because we know them and if pushed to the wall we will name them one by one to the security agencies for appropriate actions.
“Most of those trouble makers are not even from Jos but they are using the few individuals to achieve thelr evil and devilish act”.
He added, “We find it necessary to address the press as we approach a landmark period for the consoiidation of democracy and peaceful coexistence in Jos North as midwife by his Excellency the Captain of the Rescue Administration, Governor Dr Simon Bako Lalong.
“We never had it this good in Jos North especially and the state at Large. We say thank you for your strive to ensure peace and fair play reigns supreme since you assumed the leadership of the state in 2015,
“We equally thank God Almighty and appreciated your Excellency as the leader of the ruling party in giving us two amiable and honourable gentlemen as candidates for Chairmanship of our dear Jos North and his running mate in the ticket of All Progressive Congress APC) in the forthcoming Local Government Council elections. Surely in Hon. Shehu Bala Usman and Hon Ezekiel Shina Agada, we have two tested, patriotic and proven peace workers as leaders who are exactly what we need in Jos North to consolidated the peace and development we have been enjoying
We have no doubt that voling these Men into power will be 2 noble exercise
“Their emergence as flag bearers of the party fully demonstrate oneness of purpose and cohesion hecause we have faith in the duo, Shehu Bala and Ezekiel Shina to bridge the gap that exist among us. They have proven to be detribalize citizens ark this are the kind of leaders we desire, no wonder their choice is acceptableby all communities,
“We stand tail to affirm our faith in thelr abilities and capacities to bring and unite the people of Jos North Local Government and beyond irrespective of our ethnicity and religious inclination
“All we want is for the resrue administration of Governor Simon Lalong to be fully implanted in Jos North for the good and welfare of our people and we see Shehu Bale and Ezekiel Shina as patriotic and committed drivers of the rescue mission in Jos North.
