Shun corruption and corrupt practices- – – Gov Sule Charges newly elected chairmen. By Abdullahi Shuaibu, Lafia. Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state has charged newly elected chairmen in the state to shun corruption and corrupt practices in the discharge of their responsibilities. The Governor who made the charge during the swearing-in of newly elected chairmen at government house Lafia Friday also urged them to look onwards for the revenue sources that could augment their allocation from the federation account. Governor Sule further used the opportunity to call on them to be prudent, accountable, and transparent in the discharge of their duties,as according to him,” we shall all be accountable before the almighty Allah in the day of judgement”. he added. The governor further reminded them that as chief security officers of their various local governments, they should ensure the security of lives and property of their people. On the policy direction of his administration, the governor urged the newly elected chairmen ensure that they deliver the dividends of democracy to their when they finally settled down in office. While congratulating them for emerging victorious during the local government election in their local governments, the governor urged them not to let them down. Responding on behalf of the 13 local government chairmen, chairman Lafia local government Council. Hon. Aminu Muazu Maifata commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for providing an enabling environment that allowed for free, fair and credible election as conducted by the state Independent Electoral Commission ( NASIEC). Maifata assured the governor that the local guy chairmen in the state will not let him, the people and the state down. He assured their support and cooperation to the policies and programmes of the government at the grassroot levels.
