Following unconfirmed fillers that two other sons of Kanam Local Government Area have indicated interest to join the 2023 gubernatorial race in Plateau State after Chief Dr Amos Gizo had long hit the ground running for the race, the Emir of Kanam, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Babangida Mohammadu II and the Executive Chairman of Kanam Local Government Council, Dr Dayyabu Garga and other stakeholders have unanimously thrown their weight behind the candidature of Chief Dr Amos Gizo, describing him as the only gubernatorial candidate Kanam is presenting for the 2023 race in Plateau State.

The endorsement has laid to rest the debacle that 3 aspirants have indicated interest in the race from Kanam.

The candidature of Dr Gizo is said to be greeted with an overwhelming acceptance all over the State and beyond because of his tract record of being a politician to the core over the years, a peace maker and bridge builder who has the capacity to bridge the gap between Christians and Muslims, the young and old,and the different ethnic groups in Plateau, thereby fostering unity and ensuring a peaceful, united and progressing Plateau State.

Dr Gizo is widely considered the most experienced politician amongst all other aspirants that have indicated interest.
Having been a former Member of the Constituent National Assembly, a former State Chairman of defunct AC/ACN in Plateau, and leader of of AC/ACN Chairmen in Nigeria, a major block of the parties that collapsed to form the APC,

Dr Gizo is believed to have maintained a formidable structure from the grassroots to the State and beyond.
While other Local Governments within the central zone are fielding scores of aspirants, Kanam Local Government has set a record by presenting only one aspirant, in the person of Chief Dr Amos Gizo.
