The annual Mailafia Peace and Unity Cup Competition has commenced in Daddere Development Area with the call on youths in the Southern senatorial district of Nasarawa state to embrace peace as the only penaccea for peaceful development. Chief Sponsor of the competition, Chief Supretendent of police ( CSP) Yakubu Mailafia Agabi who disclosed this at the opening ceremony of the annual competition in Daddere Development Area at the weekend also assured the youths in the southern senatorial district of the state for his commitment to ensure that they got what they wants in the area of football and other sporting activities in order to add value to their lives. He said the competition which is the fifth in the series since the beginning of the ethnic crises that engulfed the southern senatorial district in 2014 is aimed at bringing youths together, foster Unity and peace through the game of football. Mailafia further explained that since the commencement of the competition many talented youths were selected into various clubs within and outside the country which made them to be gainfully employed in the game of football. He therefore called on spirited individuals,Non- governmental organization ( NGO) and others to join hands with him to ensure that the youths in the country are gainfully employed in the game of football and other sports. The occasion which was witnessed by some important dignitaries like Assistant Commissioner of Police ( ACP) Patrick Johnson, Chairman Nigerian football Associations of Nigeria, Niger state and coordinator, North Central football federation,Malam Ladan Yusuf fresh, Nasarawa state NFA chairman, Muhammad Alkali ( SK) chairman, Nasarawa United Football Club, Barrister Isaac Danladi, chairman Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board ( SUBEB) Muhammad Musa Dan Azumi, amongst other dignitaries. The occasion was climaxed with the opening match between Chokali FC of Daddere and Lafia stars where the match ended 1- 1.
