The newly posted Commissioner of Police to Plateau State, CP Bartholomew Nnamdi Onyeka says he has commenced the review of the existing crime fighting Strategies in the state.
He stressed that this effort is to meet up with the challenges of modern day policing. “Our combat readiness determination and total commitment towards onslaught against vicious crime in partnership with the State Government, Traditional Rulers Community and Religious Leaders will be greatly improved”.
CP Onyeka disclosed this during a maiden press briefing aimed at familiarizing himelf with Media practitioners in the state whom he discribed as partners in crime management and control.
“However, on my assumption of duty as the Commissioner of Police on 4/11 2021, I came up with a vision and mission under my operational strategies “Plateau first# which means working hand in hand with the host Communities to promote peace security and safety of Plateau State through edication, commitment and Professionatism.
“This I design after a careful study of the Security challenges that are prevalent in Plateau State that include, Cattle Rustiing Armed Banditry Reprisal attack, Kidnapping/Abduction Culpable homicide and to some extent farmers/herders clash.
“In order to achieve this my management team and I have commenced the review of the existing crime fighting Strategies so that we can meet up wth the challenges of modern day policing”
“First and foremost, I would like to thank Almighty God for giving me the strength and opportunity to stand before you today as the Commssoner of Police Pateau State Command, My deep appreciation to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Usman Baba psc(+) fde NPM for finding me worthy of this appointment.
“Let me use this medum to thank his Excellency the Executive Governor of Plateau State Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong for his warm reception and hospitality. Enhancement of the existing security architecture of the state government shall remain primary objective of my tenure. I have to also express my gratitude to members of the press most profoundly for their tremendous cooperation, collaboration and synergy wth the police and other security agences whch has contributed immensely in enlightening educat’ng and informing members of the public on our crime prevention activities, wthout which the successes of our operatins would not have been acknowledged.

“Our policing have to be driven by fore knowledge and guided by intelligence at strategic, operational and tactical levels. It should therefore, be proactive, preventive in orientation and conducted wthin the context of public ownership, partnership, particpation, probems solving and community support with a mainstream human security”.
“In view of the above therefore, I want to assure members of the Public in Plateau State that the Police under my watch will discharge its responsibilties in Iine with the professional ethics of the force. Also, human right vocation, corrupt practices, and other unprofessional conduct will not be tolerated.
“Finally, I want to appeal for continued support, cooperation and collaboration from all and sundry through giving useful and timely information to the Police on activities of criminal elements for prompt action”.
