APC Committee Confirms Hon. Lumumba As Party’s Candidate For Jos North/Bassa Fed. Constituency.

Barely 24 hours after the house of representatives’ leadership declared the seat of Jos North Bassa federal Constituency vacant, the All progressives Congress, APC’ in Bassa local government area has cleared Hon. Lumumba Da Adeh as its candidate.

Hon. Lumumba Adeh is to replace the former Member Jos North/ Basss Federal Constituency, Hon. Haruna Maitala who died this year in a ghastly motor accident.

Briefing Newsmen Thursday in Jos, Chairman of the committee and I need time commissioner of information in Plateau state, Hon. Sam Para says Lumumba Adeh emerged victorious during an election conducted last Monday.

He maintained that, the committee meticulously followed its set objective to shop for a credible candidate that would replace Member Jos Nort/ Basss Federal Constituency, Hon. Haruna Maitala,

He explained that when the death of the member representing Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency occured and a vacuum created the party didn’t g to sleep but commenced processes of bringing a credible candidate that is acceptable to all, given birth to setting up committees across the two LGs that make up the constituent.

He said each local government had 15  membership, with that of Bassa headed by senator Timothy Adudu,

He added that, the Committee during its assignment took into cognisance the multiethnic and religious setting of the Constituency, and adopted a modality and template that was acceptable by all.

” When we commenced the assignment, 18 candidates came up from Bassa alone including some of the committee members indicating interest for the position where we were to produce just one person.

“And Bassa having three chiefdoms, we had to break the committee into three, one for Pengana, another for Irrigwe and the other, Rukuba, and by doing this we involved elders from every ward as well as other statutory delegates, and these modality was acceptedby all.

Some committee members who indicated interest , we told them no, you can’t be in the committee and still be candudate and in that process they had to resign.

“We now called all the candidates, we sat down with them looked at so many factors including resources and at the end of the day, Hon. Lumumba Da Adeh emerged as the Bassa candidate for APC.

“What is left for us now is to lobby Jos North to see reasons why Bassa candidate should be supported to go and complete the mandate that was given to us”.

Also speaking, the Chairman of APC Bassa Local Government area, Hon. Danjuma Yakubu Chougo expressed dismay those the making speculations that a consensus candidate for the election is not yet emerged, describing it as handiwork of some of mischief maker.

“I am not happy with the action of some of the committee who are trying to bring the party down, because the issue of the party was addressed to the party, we sat with the committee and conducted the election on Monday. Three Aspirants contested and one emerged, we don’t know where the complaints are coming from”.

Hon. Sam para noted that the committee had already submitted its report.
