There is tension and fear in Ashige community in Lafia local government Area of Nasarawa state, following the killing of two herdsmen by the yet- to- be identified Gunmen.
According to an eyewitness account, the unfortunate incident occurred at about 8 .oo pm on Friday night where the residents of the community said they found the lifeless dead bodies of the two herdsmen on a farm with several cuts on their faces.
A resident of the community who pleaded anonymity as according to him, he was not authorized to talk on the matter said the Ashige Community woke up on Saturday morning to see the dead bodies of the herders, but was yet to know the cause of their deaths. ” We do not know what exactly led to the death of the herders,we just woke up today ( Saturday) and saw their dead bodies, we only saw some police officers with a Hilux van who came to evacuate the dead bodies.”
A family member of one of the deceased, Saidu Adamu Muhammad said he was informed about the unfortunate incident on Friday night about the death of the two herders.
He said ss soon as he got the information he along side other family members rushed to the scene of the incident in Ashige community and notified the police about the incident.
Adamu further narrated that on receipt of the information, the state Commissioner of police, Adesina Soyemi and his team arrived the community and ordered his men to go into the bush to unreval exactly what transpired, but said that investigation into the matter was going- on as at the time of filing – in this report.
