The Nasarawa state chairman of All Local governments in Nigeria.( ALGON) Alhaji Aminu Muazu Maifata has called on his colleagues in the state to settle down and set their revenue target in order to augment the monthly allocations they collects from the federation account.
Maifata who gave the advice in a chat with journalists in Lafia also urged them to review the revenue based of their various Council in order to tackle leakages on the revenue.
He commended governor Abdullahi Sule for for raising the state revenue from #400 million Monthly to over #1 billion monthly which he said is a step in the right direction. “We in the local government Councils gave him ( Governor) the nod on the new Internally generated revenue ( IGR) law,we learnt that from January- August, the state realized over#1 billion as revenue, and the new law will enable us know the type of revenue to be collected by the local governments”.
Hon Aminu Muazu Maifata who decried that there are little revenue in lafialocal Council despite several ways of getting revenue in Lafia local government, but wondered why they always realized little from the revenue sources , pledged to give a matching order to the revenue collectors in the local government to ensure that revenue are accrued to Lafia local government Councils.
The Lafia local government chairman who is the state chairman of All local governments in Nigeria ( ALGON) and the deputy national president of ALGON called on the people of Nasarawa state and Nigeria to give peace a chance, support the government of Governor Abdullahi Sule, and that of president Muhammadu Buhari as according to him,” Security is everybody’s business, Nasarawa is one of the most peaceful states in the country, Governor Sule is operating an all-inclusive government, as he embraces everybody, Let’s join hands with him to enable him succeed on the enormous tasks ahead.
