No fewer than 400 applicants applied for 10 job positions in Nasarawa College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Lafia.
Provost of the college, Dr Musa Yahaya Maikeffi who made the disclosure shortly after the Matriculation ceremony of over 800 newly admitted students of the college Wednesday also said out of the number, five applied for academic staff,three technical staff and two junior staff.
Maikeffi further explained that the Governing Council of the college would in no distant time screen the applicants and invite them for final interview.
On his relationship between him and Chairman and members of governing Council of the institution, Dr Maikeffi said, ” Nasarawa State College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Lafia has the most peaceful governing Councils amongst the tertiary institutions in the state.”.
Speaking at the Matriculation ceremony of over 800 newly admitted students of the college, Dr Maikeffi warned them against cultism,drug abuse, examination malpractices, and indecent dressing. ” I must warn you that the entire college Community is on red alert against those vices no matter the tribe or religion that the students belongs. ” Cultism brings nothing but illusion, despair, destruction and death ” it is an ill wind that blows nobody any good.”.
He warned that the authority shall deal ruthlessly with anyone or group of persons found perpetrating these unwholesome and demonic acts in the college.
Dr Maikeffi further observed that the 2019/2020 academic year was quite challenging as a result of global covid-19 pandemic, but they were able to complete the academic session. Urging them to maintain high level of hygiene and covid-19 safety protocols to avoid contacting and spreading the virus in the college Community.
He commended governor Abdullahi Sule for for supporting the college by making funds available for the accréditation of courses and upgrading of some facilities in the college for conducive and learning and the new status of the college.
