The Nigeria Labour Congress ( NLC) Nasarawa State Council has announced the Suspension of the proposed Nationwide Protest Over the withdrawal of fuel subsidy by the federal government.

State Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress ( NLC) Comrade Yusuf Sarki Iya who made the disclosure in a press conference at the NLC Secretariat, Lafia on Wednesday also said if the federal government had withdrawn the fuel Subsidy, Nigerians would have faced an untold hardship in the country.

Comrade Iya further explained that the national Secretariat of the NLC had earlier announce Thursday 27 January 2022 as the proposed day for the Nationwide protest, but with the announcement from the hon. Minister of finance, budget and planning, Hajiya Zainab Ahmed that the federal government has not withdrawn fuel subsidy, the labour now had to suspend the proposed protest until further notice.

The Nasarawa State NLC Chairman further explained that the NLC had commended members of civil organisations, Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ) and all those who assisted in one way or another supporting the NLC in the struggle of ensuring that the federal government did not remove fuel subsidy in the country.

He therefore assured Nigerians that NLC would not fold its hands to allow the federal government to continue the indiscriminate increase in the pump price of petroleum and other products in the country.

It would be recalled that the federal government had announced the withdrawal of fuel Subsidy effected f this year,a situation which if allowed to continue would bring untold hardship to Nigerians.
