Stay Off Almakura, Adamu’s Ambition-Keffi Youths Warn Gov Sule

By Moses Gbande

The agrieved youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have warned Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state to forget his second term ambition if his backing of his mentor, Sen. Tanko Almakura against the ex Gov Adamu’s candidature as the national chairmanship was his headache.

Led by Adamu Maraba, the APC youths who were reacting to the weekend booed of Senator Abdullahi Adamu in Awe when he chaired an occassion marking the 20th anniversary of the Emir of Azara, in Awe Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.

The incidence occurred on Saturday, shortly after Senator Adamu was invited to address the gathering, comprising top dignitaries that included the Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, as well as the Sultan of Sokoto, Abubakar Saad III.

The Keffi youths warned of severe political consequences to either Governor Sule, Senator Tanko Almakura and the APC in which Sen. Adamu is currently working hard to recouncile at the national level.

The youths comprising youth leaders from Keffi, Kokona, Karu, Toto and Nasarawa LGAs believe Sen. Adamu’s booing could have been masterminded by Governor Sule and Almakura’s thugs when he came up to speak as chairman of the event.

“As soon as Senator Adamu was invited to the podium to speak, the Gov Sule’s youths in their numbers, dared the security men on ground, to boo at the octogenarian”

“There’s no way these boys would have unlimited access to our leader if the governor was not a mastermind.

“We advise them to stay away from our zone”.

Correspondent had last Saturday reported how youths chanted their disagreement with Senator Adamu’s alleged interest to contest the position of the national chairman of the APC, even after stakeholders of the party in the state, adopted Senator Al-Makura to fly the party’s flag.

“You will be put to shame. It’s Al-Makura that we want as national chairman!,” the youths shouted as the booed at Senator Adamu.

Also in attendance at the event were prominent traditional rulers from across the country, including the Minister at the Ministry for Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godwill Akpabio, who was conferred with the title of the Dan Amanan Azara.

One of the youths who spoke to our reporter, said Senator Adamu is yet to taste the wrath of the youths in the state.

“He is a betrayer. At his age, he should be seen to keep to his words. He didn’t make his intention public all this while. He is now scheming to become national chairman of our party,” he said.

The youth however said they hope it will not get to a showdown and that common sense will prevail on Senator Adamu to make him jettison his quest to become national chairman of the APC.

He described Senator Adamu as a total betrayer, who failed to make his intention to contest the position of the national chairman known but who is now reaching out to prominent politicians across parts of the country, seeking to be imposed as national chairman of the party.

Mohammed Azara who led the attack on ex Gov Adamu said “This is after critical stakeholders of our party, including His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, publicly adopted Senator Al-Makura as the candidate of the party. Senator Adamu is now seeking to go against the collective decision of the party in the state,” the youth added.

He however warned that if Senator Adamu is eventually imposed as the national chairman of the APC, they will be left with no option than to leave the party in droves.

It would be recalled that critical stakeholders of the APC in Nasarawa State, on January 25, 2022, unanimously adopted Senator Al-Makura as the candidate of the party in the race to occupy the office of the national chairman of the party.

But Adamu Maraba faulted this claim, saying ex Gov Adamu’s candidature was coming from the major stakeholders of the APC as a last resort.

They maintain that Adamu is the best option in the present circumstances the party found itself.

Adamu Maraba believe to have the backing off some notable Sen. Adamu’s loyalists including sacked Works Commissioner, Chief Philip Dada, SSG, Alh Aliyu Tijjani, and few disgruntled elements who are against Sen. Almakura’s political ambition. They ask the stakeholders to make a choice between a toddler and an experienced party leader.
