The Nasarawa State private Media Owners Association at the Weekend honoured Govrrnor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, Minister of state Science, Technology and Innovations, Barrister Muhammad Hassan Abdullahi , Nigerian Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Ambassador Henry John Omaku among others.
Speaking at the occasion, Nasarawa State Govrrnor, Abdullahi Sule while Commending the media in the country for the roles it played in realising the Democratic rule, also appealed to them to promote peace, harmony as well as security in their reportage.
The governor who was overwhelmed by the award further explained that the success he recorded in the state would not have been realized without the contributions of the media ,in reporting the policies and Programmes of his administration.
While calling on them to maintain the tempo, Governor Sule pledged to carry media along in his administration for the day to day reportage of events in the state, and announced the sum of #5 million as his contributions to the private media practitioners in the state to enable them discharge their constitutional responsibilities without hitches.
Also Speaking, Minister of state science, Technology and Innovations, Barrister Muhammad Hassan Abdullahi who underscored the roles of the media in the society , appealed to the media practitioners to shun sentiments and other vices in their reportage in order not to cause the breach of the existing peace in the country.
Barrister Abdullahi who was the Chairman of the occasion Commended president Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Abdullahi Sule for their support to the media in the country and the state, and urged them to maintain the tempo for the overall peace and the general development of the state and the country.
Speaking earlier, Chairman , Nasarawa State private media owners,Dr Nawani Aboki said the aim of the annual lecture organized by the Association is to declare their total support and cooperation to the federal government under president Muhammadu Buhari and the government of Nasarawa State under the leadership of Engineer Abdullahi Sule to enable them succeed on the enormous tasks ahead.
Nawani therefore assured the government and the people of Nasarawa State for accurate reportage from the private media owners, and called for support and cooperation from all asundry to enable them succeed on the tasks ahead.
