The provost Nasarawa state College of Agriculture, Science and Technology (COAST) Dr. Yahaya Musa Maikafi has denied allegations that he and the chairman governing council of the college,Dr Dominic Adgadzu Bako have diverted the sum of over N300m belonging to the college for their personal use.
Maikafi who made the disclosure in a chat with selected journalists in his office also said the college has never gotten any of such amounts since he assumed the mantle of leadership of the institution two years ago.
The provost who described the chairman of the governing council of the college,Dr. Dominic Adgadzu Bako as “God fearing person”. called on those making the baseless allegations to have the fear of God in their minds and to avoid anything capable of breaching existing peace in the college. He said the college has zero tolerance to corruption as according to him,”anyone found to be involved in corrupt practice will be dealt with according to the law,” On the allegations that the Academic Staff Union of college of Agriculture, Science and Technology.lafia branch alleging that their members will not participate on the on going screening exercise, the provost said some Staff have already participated in the screening exercise except few of them who said they were waiting for the directive from their Union officials. He therefore called on the staff of the college to join hands with him to enable him succeed in his efforts to repositioning the college. Reacting to the allegations, chairman Academic staff Union of college of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Lafia branch, comrade Benjamin Adah said those staff that participated in the on going screening exercise will be sanctioned,as the Union has agreed that they will only participating in the screening exercise only when their 2019/2020 promotions are implemented. Comrade Adah further explained that the union is not factionalised as according to him,”members of the Union are talking with one voice and will continue to talk with a voice”. He accused those who alleged the provost of the college.Dr Yahaya Musa Maikafi has diverted college’s money and the chairman of the council,Dr. Dominic Adgadzu Bako to come out and say it rather than hiding and misleading the public with fake information.” Those who are alleging that the chairman of the governing council,Dr. Dominic Adgadzu Bako and the college provost,Dr. Yahaya Musa Maikafi diverted money into their personal account, should come out and say it, rather than hiding under the canopy of concerned lecturers, this is an act of cowardice.”
