A three days capacity building/training session for teachers, Guidances and councilors from basic education schools in the North Central Zone of Nigeria has opened in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
The training session, organized by SDGs/ National Teachers Institute, NTI, is to equipe Teachers, Guidance and Counselors on some baaic health challenges ravaging the nation, especially the HIV/Aids, Covid-19 and other morals.
According to the organizers, the training which is simultaneously holding across the six geo-political zones of the country has the targeted participants from health teachers from both Islamic and Christian Religious schools In Basic Education Schools.
Our correspondent reports that, the training session with the theme, ” Quality Teachers, Healthy Nation” is holding at the Bishop Court, Pastoral Centrr, Near Ande Hospital, Off JD Gomwalk Road, Jos-Plateau State.
Speaking during session, the board member of faith based HIV initiative/ core facilitator north Central zone of the training, Dr. Mrs. Rhoda Udanyi,
disclosed that the aim of the programme is to address societal ills from the morality point of view especially in areas of the scourge of HIV/Aids and Covid – 19 pendamic.
She said the programme equally avialed them opportunities to talk to the participants on the dangers of having sex outside marriage among other issues, stressing the need for participants to use the knowledge acquired during the training to better the lots of the society at large.
Also speaking, zonal administrative officer, Cecilia Peter expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation exhibited by participants and encouraged the, sponsors to release more funds to enable them reach out to the larger society.
Other participants, Comfort N. Kumzwam, Hauwa Judril, Baba yemi and the NTI Coordinator, Plateau State, Suleiman Musa, all expressed joy over the opportunities provided them to acquire fresh knowledge and promesd to judiciously use it to better the lots of the society .
