No fewer than seven persons were said to be killed in Chabo village,Obi local government Area of Nasarawa state and Hagher in Lafia East Development Area of Lafia local government Area of the state at about 11 am on Saturday.
According to an eyewitness account, the incident occurred following an unconfirmed report that a fulani man was said to be killed by an unknown gunmen in Chabo village,Obi local government Area which pro mpted the herdsmen to attack on Chabo village to revenge the killings in which they were suspecting the Tiv people in Chabo Community.
It was also gathered that many people fled Chabo and Hagher villages due to the sporadic shooting from the fulani herdsmen in the area where one more person was found dead along Chabo road leading to another adjoining village, hence the attacks.
It stated that the police arrived hours after the villagers had fled the areas to avert further attacks
The soldiers who were allegedly asked by the police to return , pointing out that they were on top of the situation and that no one was killed.
As at the time of filing- in this report, the people of Chabo in Obi local government Area and Hagher in Lafia East Development Area, Lafia local government Area, Nasarawa state are once again devastated as well as traumatized as they are currently taking refuge in nearby villages.
Police public Relations Officer ( PPRO) Nasarawa state police Commission, Ransel Nansel could not take his calls for comments, neither replying a text message sent to him.
